Emergency Dentistry

We hear the panic when we answer emergency calls, and we know that tooth pain can disrupt your day-to-day life. Finding an emergency dentist to address your problem quickly can be a real challenge, especially for patients who have not been to the dentist in a while.

Dr. Craig Weinstein and our entire dental team are here when you need us!

What Is a Dental Emergency?

Sometimes we talk to patients who are in extreme pain and ask why they didn’t call us sooner. They often say they were not sure if it was really a dental emergency.

Any time you experience dental pain, it is a clear warning from your body to take action!

Dental pain often worsens when left untreated, and your condition could become more severe. Contact us at the first sign of pain. We will ask specific questions and help you determine the right course of action to feel better fast.

Some common dental emergencies include:

  • A fractured or chipped tooth
  • Lost restoration
  • Infection
  • Swelling, redness, or sensitivity
  • Trauma due to sports
  • Trauma due to accidents

If you experience any of these symptoms, give us a call! Our team is knowledgeable and always happy to help patients just like you get back to feeling like themselves again.

Your Emergency Dental Appointment

If your dental emergency does require a trip to our office, we will try to see you on the same day. It is helpful to let us know certain information such as:

  • When the pain started
  • What area of your mouth is affected
  • What may have caused the problem
  • Any current dental conditions
  • Your dental history
  • Your medication list
  • Your medical history

We want to make sure we treat you right, so the more information you can share with us, the better care we can provide!

When you arrive in our Fords, NJ dental office, we will have a room set up to diagnose the cause of your emergency. One of our assistants will take a digital x-ray of the area for Dr. Weinstein and he will have an opportunity to review it. Your x-ray combined with his dental exam should provide us with enough information to treat your condition.

At your emergency dental exam, our first priority will be to address your pain and stabilize your condition. Full treatment may require a follow-up appointment to complete treatment.
